Swiss industrial/black metal pioneers Samael, one of the most enduring and influential forces in the dark‑music underground, return with a powerful new single, “Hail To The Sun”. Heavy, commanding, and grand in scope, the track confronts life’s hardships head‑on, urging listeners to seize opportunity rather than succumb to adversity. Its stomping rhythm and radiant momentum continue the band’s renewed creative ascent, first ignited in 2025 with “Black Matter Manifesto”, their first new material in eight years.
Formed in 1987 and now approaching four decades of continuous evolution, Samael remain a defining presence in extreme metal. Landmark albums such as Worship Him (1990) and Passage (1996) reshaped the landscape of black and industrial metal, merging cold electronics, ritualistic pulse, and cosmic darkness into a sound unmistakably their own. Even today, Samael’s signature blend of industrial precision and apocalyptic grandeur feels as vital and forward‑driven as ever.
“Hail To The Sun” stands firmly in that lineage — raw, forceful, and imposing, yet illuminated by a sense of resilience. It is both an anthem and a rallying cry.
The band explain the song’s intent: “In troubled times, it is good to come together around something that is meaningful to us all… and what better thing than the sun, which is one but experienced differently by each of us? ‘Hail To The Sun’ is an anthem that will see you through the summer and keep you warm when winter comes. The song is about overcoming adversity and seizing life’s opportunities.”
With this new single, Samael reaffirm their place as innovators who continue to shape the future of dark music — not by looking back, but by forging ahead with unwavering purpose.
