AEON SABLE

It was back in 2010 when a new beast emerged in Essen, Germany, by two extraordinary artists Din-Tah Aeon and Nino Sable. Named Aeon Sable it forever changed everything that we thought we knew about dark rock and goth music. The creativity and dexterity of the two musicians, involved in several projects of the German underground scene since 1997, has allowed them to travel to seductively-surprising territory creating an alluring, dark atmosphere that continues to command the attention of the fans in Europe and worldwide.

Din-Tah Aeon (guitars, programming, production, instrumentalist-songwriter) and Nino Sable (vocals, lyrics, production, songwriter, graphics and media designer) started Aeon Sable as a studio project only and released the debut album named Per Aspera Ad Astra in February 2010 through Af-music. The album, which was still pretty much influenced by goth rock giants like Fields Of The Nephilim and The Sisters Of Mercy, especially the songs like goth rock monuments "Exodus" or "Sever", on the other side already showed some unique and modern elements ("Agnosia", "At The Edge Of The World") that divided the gothic rock scene, goth elitists never really accepted the sound of Aeon Sable, but those who found goth/dark rock becoming a bit boring and repetitive, gave Aeon Sable a chance.

When I asked Nino how can he compare Aeon Sable from 2010 with what the band is today he answered: "I had exactly that experience a few days ago. I wanted to find out how we sounded in that days and listened to Per Aspera Ad Astra in the car. I started laughing at a lot of parts, because I concluded that everything was already here from the very beginning. We just found ways to develop it even more nowadays."

Everything paid off with the sophomore album, a proper masterpiece named Saturn Return, which came out in December 2012. The versatile nature of Aeon Sable' sound got a deeper meaning by being enraptured by nature and the most obscure sides of the subconscious mind, utmost fascinated by magic and all forms of art, the band continued their atmospheric journey and added more and more melancholy. Songs like is the haunting, rhythmic, but dark danceable/goth/electronic piece "Dancefloor Satellite" become an instant hit, but it's with the atmospheric slowly building up "Praying Mantis" where the band showed all of the potential by melting up melodic gothic rock, cold ambiental doom and post-black metal. Everything evolved even more on the mini album, Aequinoctium, released in October 2013. Fans were enthused by the captivating vibes of groovy "Tenfifteen" or by dark atmospheric work of art named "Drawing Circles Square".

In 2013 Aeon Sable performed for the very first time live in Mülheim an der Ruhr (Germany). The live line-up featured beside Nino Sable and Din-Tah Aeon, Quoth on the bass and Wishbone on second guitar. 2014 was a year of massive changes - first, Whisbone (guitars) had to leave the band because he felt the need to take care of his other two projects. In order to continue realising live performances, Aeon Sable envited guitarist Jo to share the stages. That same year Aeon Sable got signed by one of the most respected dark/goth rock labels out there - Solar Lodge (Merciful Nuns, Garden Of Delight, Whispers In The Shadow, Near Earth Orbit,...). At the same time, the live crew expanded to a seven head crew - four musicians, a lighting technician (Lux), a sound technician (Sebbl) and a merch expert (Diane).

The first fruit of the collaboration with Solar Lodge was the full-length par-exellence titled Visionaers. An album that reaches the heights that were set with previous albums, but it goes further. Aeon Sable added to their own kind of dark rock even more influnces from gothic metal, doom metal and black metal. With this album Aeon Sable grants us a voyage through the inner universe, showing us the darkest secrets and yet leaving a lot to each ones imagination. Flush guitar riffs, driven bass lines and floating soundscapes form the album’s corset and it's with the songs like it's the driving, by The Sisters Of Mercy influenced "Visions", or the deep atmospheric doomy piece "Quaalude Tango", that gave a new meaning to dark rock music, from now on they call it deep rock.

In the meantime Aeon Sable released a couple of singles and cover songs like is Joy Division's "Ceremony", Angels Of Liberty' "Monster In Me" and The Doors' "Summer's Almost Gone", all of them are available for free on their Bandcamp site. As well, in collaboration with Terra Relicta webmagazine, there was released a remix compilation album with remixed and re-vamped versions of their hit song "Visions", also this one is available for free at THIS LOCATION.

Aeon Sable have appeared in several radio talk shows in Germany while articles and reviews about the band and their albums have been and are published by numerous gothic and metal magazines worldwide, yet they played live more and more on several festivals, including WGT and Amphi Festival. Then in March 2016 the masterpiece named Hypaerion came out. With this album Aeon Sable once again only testified what we lovers of dark music already knew, that they are maybe the most creative and credible force of the genre out there. The band which is making their own kind of dark music appeals now not only to fans of classic goth rock bands, but as well those into the likes such as Moonspell, Tiamat, Draconian, Alcest, Paradise Lost and Type Of Negative to name a few, have finally found a new name on the scene. Out of this album I need to mention songs like it's the fantastic album titled opener, dramatic and emotive "Garden Of Light", "Of Cats And Mice" or the suspenseful "White Snow".

Then after a pause of more than two years and half, the groundbreaking and monumental full-length Aether saw the light of the day. Aether is an epic album that collapses the borders between goth rock and metal, some say this is post-goth, but no matter how you define or label it, Aeon Sable with it reached into the absolute heights. With perfect production that adds another level of depth and power to these already immense compositions, this band is now more than ever ready to reach "out of space, where everything is free, deep down where the spectrosphere generates every star we see...". Songs like it's the melodic melancholy that haunts in an instant named "Deadlock Canon" or epic monster with Portuguese lyrics "O Senhor do Medo", the atmospheric doom & gloom named "Leaving The Fourth Season", not to mention the cosmic journey named "Dark Matter", actually all of them just show a band that is an absolute must for any fan of dark music out there, no matter if you are into rock, metal, alternative or ambiental music. This is dark music in all its briliance!

Nino Sable comments about Aether: "I guess time and the circumstances we are in right now designed this album the way it is now. How did Therapy? once sang? “Happy people have no stories” or let me tell it with the words of another band “nice boys don’t play rock’n’roll”. This album is made of blood, flesh and bones, of thoughts and visions. This is our soul."

What are now the future plans for Aeon Sable? Nino says: "Surviving and keeping the fire burning the way it is burning right now is a hard challenge nowadays. I guess that's the main goal for the band right now."

Din-Tah Aeon and Nino Sable are dedicated in sustaining their inimitable personality by creating and developing a distinctive form of musical art; from composing, recording, mixing and mastering to the artwork, the music video production, the social media and the website - everything is made solely by the band. Also their live shows have become an unique audio/visual experience that shouldn't be missed. Allow yourself to enter the world of Aeon Sable and journey with the psychonauts in the darkest realms...
