Terra Tenebrosa - The Reverses (2016)

Band: Terra Tenebrosa
Album title: The Reverses
Release date: 17 June 2016
Label: Debemur Morti Productions

Terra Tenebrosa is not a typical extreme metal band at all, nor it's dark ambient and absolutely it's not hardcore, sludge or anything similar, its creation is a well structured chaos, it's void and Dante's inferno transformed into music. Yes, it's avantgarde, psychedelic, it's black, dark and utterly suffocating, but yet it's something more, something that is beyond anything done so far. The Reverses is an unique piece of organized chaos, a cinematic journey, one of the most evil soundscapes ever. The Reverses is that kind of an album that needs to be heard many times and by every consequent listen you will discover more and more hidden things being disguised in this darkened psychotic musical gem, and maybe if you'll be persistent enough the hidden world of those compositions will slowly unveil all of its creepy beauty. A chaotic masterpiece!

Tertium Organum - Alud (2016)

Band: Tertium Organum
Album title: Alud
Release date: 14 July 2016
Label: Kalpamantra

Tertium Organum is one of the three projects by the mysterious creator who is also responsible for Aegri Somnia, releasing the debut Monde Obscure last year through Cryo Chamber and contributing to the upcoming massive collaborative opus Nyarlathotep, the third project being Efil, having released the album Anti. Tertium Organum fits neatly within the realms of the classic style of dark ambient. On Alud, we will surely find a healthy portion of field recordings, but the focus has shifted to the presentation of drones, synths, and other instrumentation, with very little in the way of cinematic cues. Tertium Organum has produced a brilliant dark ambient album, which takes its style from some of the greats of the genre, without ever seeming to rip them off. This is dark ambient in its purest and finest form.

Album title: Benedicere
Release date: 8 December 2015
Label: Rustblade Records

The Devil & The Universe have evolved into spheres where only absolute darkness is the limit and their musical output is hard to describe, they call it goat wave, but in truth you'll find here dark/ritual ambient, symphonic music, psychedelia, minimal wave, cold wave, xy wave, industrial parts and yet much more, everything composed in a way that it feels just like listening to a perfect soundtrack that could fit fine to any kind of 70s occult horror movie. Benedicere is an occult drama, an adventure, a refined and accurate ritualistic experience, magick and mayhem, order and chaos, a dark cinematic murky masterpiece.

Thangorodrim - Taur-Nu-Fuin (2016)

Band: Thangorodrim
Album title: Taur-Nu-Fuin
Release date: 31 July 2016
Label: Deivlforst Records

On Taur-Nu-Fuin, Thangorodrim has given us an essential dungeon synth album. All the hallmarks of the genre can be found at some point within this album. There is something to this album, something sinister, which many dungeon synth projects fail to grasp. So often dungeon synth albums descend into territory which is already over-done or just down-right cheesy. Deivlforst has no tolerance for this, they are clearly attempting to take a stand and push their high quality version of the genre out into the world, for fans of all varieties to discover. This album shouldn't be written off as something to play in the background during your role-play game. Thangorodrim has shown the ability here to hold the listeners attention all the way through the album, giving them a lesson in the old-school sounds of dungeon synth along the way.

The Flatfield - Manie Sans Délire (2017)

Band: The Flatfield
Album title: Manie Sans Délire
Release date: 7 January 2017
Label: Gothic Music Records

The Flatfield become one of the most promising acts in the current gothic/post punk scene. The atmospheric keyboards together with the creaking guitars create their characteristic sound, a really interesting approach that evolves from the typical 80s post-punk sound providing a personal soundscape with reminiscences of different dark styles like gothic rock, death rock and darkwave. With Manie Sans Délire they went one step further, adding new elements to their sound, reaching a more mature level.
