Sweden's atmospheric black metal tandem Grey Shores have offered "Herald The Dark", another glimpse from their impending debut full‑length, Dark Waters Of Night, due out on 4 September.
Built around the convergence of opposing forces, "Herald The Dark" moves between sweeping beauty and darkness. Clean guitars, vocals and expansive melodies gradually collide with black metal shrieks, capturing the tension at the heart of Grey Shores' sound.
Speaking about the composition, guitarist and vocalist Vilhelm Andersson explains: "Martin gave the suggestion for this track to contain a chorus of voices — a suiting challenge for me to express mood in another way than by traditional black metal screams. We also experimented with an Ebow to define this theme into the music as well. I wrote the lyrics on the topic of something inevitable, the feeling of not being able to go back, that choices have been made. And to welcome the chaos and dark path of the other side".
