Los Angeles (USA)‑based dream pop duo Magic Wands return with a shimmering new single and lyric video, "Wishing Well", a track that immediately feels like a lost classic drifting between post‑punk cool and shoegaze haze. Driven by an insistent rhythm, swirling guitars, and Dexy Valentine’s soft‑focus vocal delivery, the song radiates a warm, dreamlike glow while carrying the duo’s unmistakable melodic charm.
Dexy reveals that the lyrics were born in an unexpected moment of solitude: "The lyric came to me when I was a guest of a guest at a wedding one summer. There was an obvious sense of excitement at the event, but I didn’t really know anyone there, so I snuck off outside and sat by a wishing well fountain and started writing on a napkin. When we came up with the music for this song, I thought these words would fit perfectly."
Co‑written and produced by Dexy and her partner Chris Valentine, "Wishing Well" serves as the title track of the duo’s upcoming EP, set for release in late April via Metropolis Records. The single follows January’s "Sacred Mirrors", a collaborative piece created with Psychedelic Furs guitarist John Ashton, further showcasing the band’s evolving sonic palette.
With "Wishing Well", Magic Wands continue to refine their ethereal blend of dream pop, post‑punk, and shoegaze, offering a track that feels both intimate and cinematic — a gentle escape into a world of swirling light and soft shadows. Link
