The anonymous multi‑national collective Thy Sanatorium, operating out of Chicago and known for its horror‑driven fusion of melodic death metal, black metal, and gothic atmospheres, is set to unleash its self‑titled debut album Thy Sanatorium on 24 April. The record will arrive on all major streaming platforms, with physical editions available on both vinyl and CD.
After three singles that introduced the project’s unsettling aesthetic, the full eight‑track album widens the scope of their sonic world. The band sharpen their blend of extreme metal aggression and brooding melody, weaving horror not just as a theme but as a narrative backbone. The songs move through psychological unease, familiar fears, and the darker corners of human experience, all while maintaining a strong sense of pacing and dynamic tension.
The album was produced by founding member and lead guitarist Aries, recorded at The Sanatorium Studio, and mastered by Colin Davis (VILE) at Imperial Mastering, giving the record a cold, polished edge that amplifies its thematic weight.
“This all started as a single song that we released just a few months ago,” Aries explains. “It began with ‘Torment’, then suddenly here we are. I’m excited for the full album to be out in the world. Everyone involved brought their own talents and unique style. That’s why Thy Sanatorium sounds fresh and a little different, while still staying familiar and respectful to the genres we blend.”
What began as a solitary idea has quickly evolved into a fully formed entity—one that embraces anonymity, multinational collaboration, and a shared fascination with the macabre.
