Darkher's music is one of those captivating, highly atmospheric, unpretentiously dark and absolutely emotive sonic creations meant to feed your spirit. Jayn's songs are simply mesmerizing, beautiful, fragile, but at the same time there's present some kind of horror, intense veil of darkness and huge amount of almost raw power brought to the surface by stormy wall of guitar sound. The album features nine distinctive, dynamic and dramatic tracks that are impossible to resist. Realms can bring into listeners senses many different states of emotion, from dreadful angst, horror and fear, to immense beauty and calmness of mind, it's a glimmering of hope for the lost ones, but it can be as well a manace for others. It brings warmth when needed, but as well it glazes with freezing icing over your body. Darkher made a truly transcedental album that can't be really compared to anything done before, it's a sonic journey for your mind and soul.

The band plays a very good old school black metal with slight impact of older bands such as Urgehal, Beastcraft and old Mayhem. But a perfect studio sound adds into the picture kind of depth and somehow a mysterious feeling. On the other hand this is music that does not make any compromises with the exception of total misanthropic fever, historical atrocities, pure hell and death. Dauden is definitely one of the best bands that are currently devoted to the pure unlight of true Black Metal underground of extreme evilness.

Dead melodies is a new artist and these soundscapes are pushed forward by one man: Tom Moore who has a few fairly unknown albums scattered in his bandcamp. The melodies within these soundscapes fit perfectly toward these memories of this place you once inhabited. Heavy bass, gorgeous field recordings, and drones of the highest order really make me think this artist will be one to remember for years to come. These are some heavily processed and high quality field recordings, drones heavy enough to crush anyone’s good spirit, and a story that really makes this album special. Light and dark balance out very well and lead you into intriguing old legends worth looking into. You’re left with these questions: are you ever really alone in nature? Are the legends of the black forests true? Are forests really alive?

Band: Dawn Of Oblivion

Phoenix Rising is a work that leads the listener through many different emotional, dark and mystical states, and thus serves with many musical variations all centered around deep gloomy and atmospheric gothic metal. Even though Dawn Of Oblivion don't discover any new territories soundwise, they carefully blend those typical 90s gothic metal lines, so familiar to the maestros of the genre like are Tiamat and Paradise Lost, with some guitar riffs used by Therion on Theli or Vovin, and to make the thing even more audacious and sinister they add a pinch of black metal and doom elements on a couple of occasions, but yet at the same time they don't forget that their heritage is in gothic rock. Many elements could resemble to The Sisters Of Mercy or even more to The Fields Of Nephilim. Still, some oriental vibes, like used in the miffed iconic goth metal piece "Anubis", or floydian ambiances in the emotional and soothing "Within The Realms Of The King Of Amur" that are similar to those used back then by Tiamat on Wildhoney or on A Deeper Kind Of Slumber make their sound special in many ways. Dawn Of Oblivion with this album showed that it's still possible to make astounding things within the gothic metal realms.

The British band centered around the mastermind and main songwriter DM Kruger, Descendants Of Cain, are after four years of silence since their previous album, Hell Bar Blues, returning to the scene maybe stronger than ever. Conversations With Mirrors is an album that explores so very different angles of dark atmospheric rock music that is almost impossible to properly describe it. This album, not only that is original, it also transcends the genre borders while keeping the primal atmosphere still very gothy and melancholic. Conversations With Mirrors consists of 11 very emotional songs with a lot of character. Kruger's deep, strong and highly emotive raspy voice gets under your skin pretty soon. As well the instrumental side of the album is exceptional, yes, there are still evident gothic rock elements, but in this versatile output there are found also alternative rock, trip hop, neo-classical, electronic, ambient, even prog-rock, blues and old school new wave variations that certainly add a lot of charm and uniqueness to this music.
