Dark Music Awards 2013 Final Results: HERE
Cult Of Erinyes - Blessed Extinction: Ritualistic black metal where music is merely a symptom of a higher truth. Spawned with the intention to distil artistic audacity into respected traditions with ritualistic hymns, vicious and twisted vocals, furious rhythmic and ambient digressions. Dynamic, moody, evil and absolutely one of the black metal highlights in 2013! Links: Website, Facebook
Merciful Nuns - Exosphere VI: A second album of Artaud Seth & co. in less than a year doesn't show any lack of artistic creativity, contrary. With some of the most heavy gothic rock elements ever heard and some of the most atmospheric soundscapes this album just shows how exceptional this German trio is. Out of any inclination to the trends, with Exosphere you are taken into the extraterestrial sonic world. Superb! Links: Website, Facebook
Mystigma - Unzerbrechlich: Jewel of gothic metal in typical German manner! The metal elements are often swaped into more gothic dark rock waters and the band tries to occasionally implement their sound with some electronics, what brings some dynamics into the sole song structures. Mystigma with this album don't explore new sounds, they rather settle themselves into the safe zone within the genre and they do it good. Read a review HERE. Links: Website, Facebook
New Keepers Of The Water Towers - Cosmic Child: New Keepers Of The Water Towers main inspiration must be hard rock and psychedelic sounds done in the early 70's, of course Black Sabbath come in mind, but imagine now that Roger Waters and David Gilmour joins them on some rehearsals and even Steve Harris and Dave Murray want to take their part here. Do you get a picture? No? Then try to listen to Cosmic Child. Read a review HERE. Links: Facebook
New Model Army - Between Dog And Wolf: Shamanic rock to the delight of rebels. On this new album, New Model Army creates a more atmospheric and cinematic style, which they achieve by the heavy use of multi-ethnic sounds and tribal percussions. So the band's unmistakable post-punk substance appears dissolved into multiple artistic forms. Read a review HERE. Links: Website, Facebook
The Eden House - Half Life: Just think that their core line-up consists of Stephen Carey (This Burning Effigy, Adoration), Tony Pettitt (Fields Of The Nephilim, NFD), Simon Rippin (Sensorium, Nefilim, Nephilim AD, NFD) and Andy Jackson (sound engineer with Pink Floyd, and producer of Elizium by FOTN). Then add as guests members of The Mission, Faith And The Muse, All About Eve, New Model Army, Mephisto Walz, The Last Dance, Red Sun Revival,... What can go wrong here? Half Life is an enchanting, adorable, sometimes psychedelic gothic album. Links: Website, Facebook
The Eternal Fall - As The Time Goes: The biggest project that The Eternal Fall ever did. It contains an album and film on DVD to accompany the music. Such a dark, emotional, melancholic and almost perverse musical experience is only for those with strong nerves that are ready to enter this realm of gothic horror. Links: Website, Facebook
