Dear Terra Relicta dark music web magazine and radio readers and listeners!
Terra Relicta is upgrading to a modern and mobile-friendly website and will show off its new outfit in about a week. In the meantime, the current website will more or less stagnate. By the way, the radio is functioning as usual. Thank you for your understanding and patience, and soon - welcome to the new Terra Relicta!
If the band exlored almost every possible element of atmospheric metal and rock, going deep into dreamy pop gaze and before that seeking the evil essence in the most ambiental side of black metal, now everything is staggering, perfectly put together into this musical amalgam of stylistic maximalism. Rare are bands and artists out there that can keep their sound throughout the years so very unique and appealing, yet magical, serene, somehow nostalgic and above all mesmerizing, Alcest are most certainly one of them. Mesarthim - .- -... ... . -. -.-. .
The mysterious act Mesarthim is a web/studio project only and the names of musicians are unknown, but do we care if the music they do is above almost anything done so far in the fields of atmospheric black metal. This album with one of the strangest titles ever has an unbeliveable pathos and if you'll close your eyes and put your headphones on you'll be taken on a journey which might never end. Everything is so very intense, atmospheric, it's a perfect marriage of atmospheric yet gloomy synths and raging melodic guitars. LINK / LISTEN
Metatron Omega - Sanctum
On Sanctum, Metatron Omega incorporates many of the themes and sounds which made his previous release, Gnosis Dei, such a success. Yet, we immediately hear a maturing of the artist and a more focused direction being taken. This is no surprise considering the large swathe of musical interests and outlets of the mysterious front man, Scorpio V, who is behind Metatron Omega as well as Paleowolf and Gaetir, The Mountainkeeper. Mist Of Misery - Absence
If Mist Of Misery were initially sounding like a good but average dsbm band, now the thing is much different, and their new full-lenght Absence is without any doubt one of the best symphonic/atmospheric black metal releases you'll have a chance to listen lately. Absence is a highly accessible album, it's captivating, very cinematic with huge atmospheric sound. It's dramatic, melancholic, yet very obscure, it offers beauty and contrary to that it's somehow evil. LINK / REVIEW / LISTEN
Neurotech - In Remission
For those who enjoyed the journey of Neurotech's evolution so far and have found the enormous beauty in ambient, created by Wulf's compositions since Blue Screen Planet EP forth, In Remission won't come as a disappointment, since it is his most powerful and wrought release since Infra Versus Ultra. Neurotech's music is a macrocosm, consisting of parallel universes, of which all of them have the same sound, but then again, each of them alters that sound in its own, unique way and so it stays even now. October Tide - Winged Waltz
One of the most praised bands within the doom/death metal genre, the Swedish combo October Tide, returned with a new full-lenght, the first one released through Polish label Agonia Records. Winged Waltz is doom/death par exelence and shows what is all about and how it should be done; intense guitar riffing, dissonant soul ripping melodies, turbulent drums, heavy distorted bass lines and aggressive typical death metal styled vocals with occasional blackened shrieks. Svartelder - Pyres
What can you expect from the band which features in its line-up members of Carpathian Forest, Nordjevel, In the Woods..., Den Saakaldte, Pantheon I, Old Forest and Doedsvangr? Nothing but another black metal masterpiece! And Pyres is that! There is no doubt that the band’s sound is firmly rooted in black metal, but experiences from a variety of different musical backgrounds allow the band to mix different elements together, bringing a fresher, more varied, approach to the overall sound.
