Finnish symphonic metal veterans Amberian Dawn continue their bold new chapter with “Moon”, the fourth single from their upcoming album Temptation’s Gates, out this Friday, 26 June via Napalm Records. The track reveals yet another facet of the band’s evolving sound: faster, darker, and more intense than anything they have released in recent years.
Driven by blast‑beat energy, luminous keyboard passages, and soaring guitar work, “Moon” balances aggression with the band’s trademark sense of magic. Its sudden, dramatic ending — punctuated by the final screams of new vocalist Nicole Willerton — makes the transformation of Amberian Dawn unmistakable. The band will celebrate the album’s release with a special show in Helsinki on 28 June, serving as the official afterparty of Tuska Festival.
Composer and bandleader Tuomas Seppälä describes “Moon” as a turning point: “I composed this song just a few weeks after we recruited our new vocalist. From the start, it carried an exceptionally dark and haunting atmosphere, and I wanted to preserve that feeling throughout the entire process. For the first time in my career, I introduced growling vocals — it felt completely natural here, and I knew Nicole could deliver the right intensity. Recording the guitar solo myself after so many years made the track even more personal. This song captures a darker, more haunting side of our new era.”
Willerton’s performance is central to the track’s emotional weight. She explains the lyrical theme: “‘Moon’ is about finding hope, tranquility, and inner peace in a world filled with destruction, greed, and suffering. The moon becomes a guiding light — a reminder that even when life feels overwhelming, we must cherish the simple beauties of nature and the freedom of the spirit.”
With Willerton at the helm, Amberian Dawn steps confidently into a more modern and occasionally surprisingly rough sonic territory. The shift marks a clear evolution from their previous release, Take A Chance – A Metal Tribute To ABBA (2022), which earned them widespread attention for their symphonic reinterpretations of Swedish pop classics. Now, the band — led by Seppälä — is carving out a renewed identity defined by intensity, atmosphere, and emotional depth.
Fans can also revisit the previously released single and video “Unchained” over HERE, which as well showcased Willerton’s dynamic range and the band’s revitalised direction. Link
