UK based dark ethereal/esoteric project Blooding Mask was founded back in June 1992 by Maethelyiah, since 2011 better known as the frontwoman of the cult British gothic rock/post-punk band The Danse Society. Blooding Mask is all about magic, rituals, darkness,... in this music there are a lot of operatic elements, ambient and choral atmospheres that expand into pure electronics, as well the music gets quite often very progressive and experimental.

Blooding Mask is actually a solo-project of Maethelyiah, but on stage and in the studio she's accompanied by great musicians from Italy, like Il Segno del Comando. So far Blooding Mask released four albums, All The Colours Of Death in 1993, What That Hollow Shows Through in 1994, then after six years in 2000, Blooding Mask released The 9 Pearls On The Trail, followed by the darkest one in 2008, The 5 Monsters, an album that is considered an original soundtrack to the same entitled novel that Maethelyiah wrote in 1995. After almost 12 years of silence, this year Blooding Mask announced a new return, and Paul Nash, the founder and guitarist of The Danse Society, joined the project.

Blooding Mask is now working with some exceptional guests on the fifth album entitled Autopsy Of A Dream, which will be even darker and should be released in spring 2021. Recently also the entire Blooding Mask discography has been released digitally, with the addition of Audiomovie version of The 5 Monsters, which is the book plus the album together with real actors. Two of the main actors are from the Dr Who and Scaryfiers cast. All of the albums, as well as the Audiomovie, are available on their Bandcamp page.
