End Of Green with their ninth opus, Void Estate, did one of the best melancholic metal or rock albums that were released in recent years, it's also the most consistent, darkest and deepest album that this band ever made. Void Estate is an outpour of sadness and emotions that captures the listener in a stunning way and it doesn't let go so easily. There are not many bands on this planet who can in such an elegant way visualize isolation in the midst of beauty with such ear-piercing power.

Flowers For Bodysnatchers - Asylum Beyond

In a genre like dark ambient, one would expect to find “horror ambient” music around every turn. But the truth is, most dark ambient artists stay quite far from this style. On the other hand Asylum Beyond serves as a perfect template for the dark ambient community. It shows how one may focus on themes that could be considered unworthy to the more philosophically driven artists of the genre; and how these themes are still absolutely worthy of our attention.

Deep Calleth Upon Deep is undoubtedly an album, which marked a beginning of a new era in the evolution of Satyricon’s music. By drifting from classical black metal to more progressive, melodic and black’n’roll oriented waters throughout more than quarter of a century lasting odyssey, with this album the Norwegian duo has basically taken a step back and forward at the same time. They reinvented Satyricon.

We all know Svartsinn like one of those acts that created some of the most dark soundscapes ever heard and Mørkets Variabler not that just follows this path, it's even making everything more audacious. With this album we get immersed into so very dense and haunting atmosphere that rare other artists can compose. It's a memorable atmospheric work with long darkened drones, subtle droneing cello, well inserted field recordings and yet much more.

Totengeflüster - Im Nebel der Vergänglichkeit

Im Nebel der Vergänglichkeit is a journey into darkness, it's an album consisting of 12 lush tracks of intense captivating black metal. In the first place this is fiery and dark symphonic black metal. Plentitude of classical orchestrations, gloomy but playful piano sounds, kind of a bleak horror ambiances and often symphonic gothic synths create such a lush multidimensional dark soundscape. Totengeflüster found the right symbiosis between atmospheric and aggressive sound.
